Foo Shi Hao, Nanthini Vijayakumar, and Samuel Caleb Yap represented SMU in the 8th edition of this moot, which was held in Singapore for the first time. This year's problem involved the fur of an endangered cat being sold as faux fur. Questions relating to various torts, the private right to action, and a tribunal's powers to grant injunctions and penalties arose. The team, which was coached by SMU international moot alumnus Eunice Chan, won all nine of its matches to emerge champions of the tournament. Along the way, it met teams from Ho Chi Minh, Jodhpur, Kobe, Loyola Los Angeles, and Taylor's. SMU has now reached the LawAsia finals four out of four times and records were also rewritten for most number of finals appearances (four) and most number of consecutive finals appearances (also four). For her excellent performance Nanthini was named Best Oralist of the tournament, while the team was awarded the Spirit of LawAsia prize for being the team that best reflected the values of fair play and camaraderie.
